PAST CORRESPONDENCE.

One more time -- thank you, David.

We knew this year would be a difficult one. But it was also full of fierce passion and hope -- from the millions of people who took to the streets on behalf of the values we share to the activists, newcomers and veterans alike, who lead us to victories in Virginia, Alabama, and across the country. We really have seen that we are stronger together (sorry, couldn't resist).

My wish for you is that you're able to take a break this holiday season and spend some time with the people you love. Bill and I will be celebrating the best way we know how: by sharing our favorite traditions with the youngest members of our family.

2018 will be a big year for this team. I hope you enjoy your holidays -- and come back refreshed and ready to win. I know I will.

Onward!
Hillary.

I 'M ASKING YOU TO BE A PART OF THIS...

David --

When Onward Together launched earlier this year, we were supporting five groups that encourage people to organize for progressive change and to run for office: Indivisible, Color of Change, Emerge America, Swing Left, and Run for Something.

Seven months and some incredible victories later, I’m even more proud and inspired to work alongside these organizations.

We’ve got big plans for 2018.

We aren’t stopping with five organizations, either. Across the country, new groups like these are cropping up, powered by activists of all ages, backgrounds, and experiences -- and we’re working every day to find the most promising and support them.

There is so much to be done.  Let’s do it together

Thank you,

Hillary

IMPORTANT TO SAY THANK YOU. NANCY PELOSI, SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE.

David, even with the daily chaos that defines the Trump Administration, it’s important not to lose sight of the good things happening around us.

It’s even more important to say, thank you. Because of your dedication, we can continue to fight for the American people in the halls of Congress and protect and expand our Majority on the campaign trail.

I can’t thank you enough for your help this month. Your grassroots efforts truly are important.

This past month marked 100 days in the Majority. We made a promise to fight #ForThePeople -- and I’m proud to say we’ve lived up to it.

We’ve taken real steps to protect Americans’ health care from Trump’s attempts to take it away and made progress on protecting communities from gun violence. We ended the Trump Shutdown and ensured that his border wall remains a fantasy.

We focused on lowering prescription drug costs, increasing paychecks and taking steps to clean up government with strong ethics reform that would go a long way to ending the culture of corruption in Washington.

Great things are head, and we’re just getting started. I’m excited to keep fighting these next 18 months with you.

Thanks again,

Nancy

THANK YOU, FROM AL.

FROM: AL FRANKEN.

Dear David,

This has been a tough few months. I can't tell you how hard it was to step away from serving in the United States Senate - the best job I've ever had.

And I can't tell you how much it's meant to me, to Franni, and to our family to hear from so many supporters wishing us well and telling us that you're still ready to fight for the progressive values we share.

As I said on the day I announced my resignation from the Senate, I might be giving up my seat in that chamber, but I'm not giving up my voice. I'm going to keep fighting for those values, too.

But, today, I just wanted to write to say thank you.

Thank you for taking a chance on me more than a decade ago when I stepped up to run for the Senate - and helping me to win that first race by just 312 votes.

Thank you for fighting alongside me every step of the way for the progressive values we share: values like justice, equality, integrity, and honesty.

Thank you for making it possible to practice a politics focused, as my hero Paul Wellstone put it, on improving people's lives.

I am so proud of the progress we've made together. From passing the Affordable Care Act and extending health insurance to tens of millions of families to pairing veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan with service dogs that make their days a little easier. From defending net neutrality and fighting back against media consolidation to asking the tough questions in hearings and exposing the corruption and incompetence of the Trump administration.

And I know that there is a lot more progress to be made in the months and years ahead. We have to fight this administration and its far-right agenda. We have to take back power in this year's midterm elections (starting with re-electing Minnesota's two fine senators, Tina Smith and Amy Klobuchar) so we can finally hold this President accountable. We have to stand up for our progressive values, stand up for middle-class families - and stand up for the truth.

I know that you are going to keep fighting to make that progress. And I want you to know that I'm going to be right there alongside you, every step of the way.

As hard as it is not to be there in the Senate right now, I still believe, as Paul Wellstone did, that the future belongs to those who are passionate and work hard. I'm still as passionate as ever about the values we share. I look forward to continuing the hard work we've done together to move our country forward.

And, most of all, I am deeply grateful for your friendship and your support.

Thank you,

Al

P.S.: Over the last few weeks, I've heard from a lot of people who want to know what I'm doing next and how they can help. It's a good question, and one I'm not quite ready to answer yet. For the moment, I'm enjoying spending time with Franni, our healthy and brilliant kids, and our adorable grandkids - and feeling very lucky to have them in my life. But I do want to thank you for being there for me during this difficult time.

David,

Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.

Last week, the House passed the new universal background checks bill. Now, we’re pouring everything we have into urging the Senate to pass it so it can become law – and we couldn’t do it without your support.

We’ve been working tirelessly to expand background checks for eight years. And because of your action, we’re closer than we’ve ever been to making this lifesaving reform a reality.

We remember all too well what those months were like after our boys – Nicole’s beautiful butterfly Dylan and Mark’s sweet little Daniel – were murdered at Sandy Hook Elementary. On top of the all-consuming grief, we were constantly exhausted from spending day after day visiting congressional offices and showing lawmakers pictures of our sons – pictures that show the human toll of inaction.

When some of those same lawmakers voted down that bill, it was devastating, but the thought of giving up never crossed our minds. We knew we had to keep working to make sure Dylan and Daniel didn’t die in vain. We knew a moment exactly like this one would come as long as we kept going.

David, having people like you by our side has helped us push through, even on the most painful days. Now, our best chance yet to pass universal background checks is in front of us, and it’s all thanks to you.

We’re overwhelmed with gratitude for all you’re doing to help us build a legacy for our boys and prevent other parents from having to experience the unending pain of having their child taken by gun violence. We have more reason than ever to be filled with the hope of real, lifesaving change.

Thank you so much,

Nicole Hockley (Dylan’s mom) and Mark Barden (Daniel’s Dad)

MAY,2, 2013.

David McDonald:

It’s an incredible day in the Ocean State.

Moments ago, I signed into law legislation granting marriage equality to all loving, committed couples in our state. And now it’s official: Rhode Island is the 10th state to secure the freedom to marry for all families.

Rhode Island is no longer an island of inequality in New England. We affirmed our shared principles of diversity, inclusion, and equality, which have defined what it means to be a Rhode Islander since Roger Williams landed at India Point in 1636. I couldn’t be more proud.

When we began this legislative session, I called upon members of the General Assembly to quickly consider and adopt this legislation -- in honor of our forefathers who risked their lives and fortune in the pursuit of our "lively experiment." I’m incredibly grateful to our legislators who, after an open and honest debate, decided our state will prosper when all families are recognized and protected. They stood on the side of love and sent these important bills to me for my signature.

But above all, I’m grateful for you and the tens of thousands of marriage supporters across the state. When some said that it couldn’t be done, that marriage equality would never pass in Rhode Island, you didn’t back down. You kept pushing forward. You knocked on more than 25,000 doors and worked alongside your neighbors and friends to build a campaign unlike any other our state has ever seen.

Simply put: today would not have been possible without you.

Today, Rhode Island is a better place for all who call this great state home. Years from now, generations of Rhode Islanders will look back to this historic moment -- and I will be forever indebted to you and every single person who helped move us forward.

Thank you,
Governor Lincoln D. Chafee

Your noted is a classic Straw Man! And Trump and others are notorious for this as they try to shift the subject for a counter....typical reason, and often unnoticed. Also be on the look for the ubiquitous Ad Hominem which more than often is a side partner!. David, your continued work is most valuable, and I want you to know how proud I am!.
